S+SNZ Examinations

S+SNZ Examinations Committee

The S+SNZ Examinations Committee is responsible for setting and carrying out examinations (on behalf of the Cadastral Survey Licensing Board) to become a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor.


There are two sets of examinations:


Exam Dates

Professional Examination 2020

The April 2020 Professional Examinations are going ahead as planned. The examinations will be conducted by video using Zoom instead of face to face examinations in Wellington.

April 2020 | Key dates:

  • 18 October 2019 - Exemptions and clarifications for projects described in the Annual Circular close
  • 10 February 2020 - Registration closes
  • 14 February 2020Closing date for submission of projects to the S+SNZ Examinations Office
  • 23 March 2020 - Timetables sent to eligible candidates to sit the Professional Examinations
  • 06 April 2020 - Professional Examination Day 1
  • 07 April 2020 - Professional Examination Day 2

Note: "The CSD study component referenced in 3.2.2.7 Annual Circular has been removed from the Professional Interview Examination."

October 2020 | Key dates:

  • 30 March 2020 - Exemptions and clarifications for projects described in the Annual Circular close
  • 15 June 2020 - Registration opens
  • 17 August 2020 - Registration closes
  • 21 August 2020 - Closing date for submission of projects to the S+SNZ Examinations Office
  • 28 September 2020 - Timetables sent to eligible candidates to sit the Professional Examinations
  • 12 October 2020 - Professional Examination Day 1
  • 13 October 2020 - Professional Examination Day 2

Cadastral Law Examination 2020

The Cadastral Law examination will be going ahead as planned. Further updates will be posted closer to the exam time based on Ministry of Health advice in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Key dates:

  • 03 April 2020 - Registration closes
  • 18 June 2020 - Cadastral Law Examination Day
