June Webinar: Geospatial Data of Interest to Surveyors

Friday 08th June, 10am - 11am

Surveyors play a central role in a range of government agencies and private organisations, from planning and construction to engineering and land boundary determination. GIS is built on a database of individual project files enabling surveyors to easily manage, reuse, share, and analyse data, saving time and reducing duplication.

This session will take you on a guided tour of geospatial data sources of interest for New Zealand surveyors and how you can access relevant data in the formats you need. We will look at key geospatial data available from government agencies like LINZ, MPI, MFE and DOC, regional and district councils and other sources of note, and look at their formats, data fields and what they could be used for.

We’ll look at the different projections used, levels of accuracy, and what are some of the reasons aerial imagery often doesn’t line up. We will also have a look at some simple tools that make it easy to create and share geospatial data for client projects.
