Welcome to New President
Rebecca Strang is delighted to be appointed as the first female president of NZIS since the organisation’s inception over 100 years ago.
Not only is Rebecca’s appointment a milestone for NZIS, which has historically been male-dominated, but the organisation has gone further with two new NZIS board members, Michelle Bain and Dr Jordan Alexander.
Board Chair, Andrew Stirling says, “the new appointees bring strong governance and leadership to the Board and Council and the appointments demonstrate the NZIS commitment to promoting diversity within the surveying and spatial sector which is one of our key goals."
Rebecca sees it as a “huge honour” and one of her aims would be to streamline the way the council currently operated.
Rebecca has been on the NZIS board for two years as Vice-President, and prior to that, she was actively involved at the branch level and a leader of the Young Professionals group.
Based in Auckland, Rebecca is Digital Practice Leader at Aurecon NZ - a global engineering and infrastructure advisory company. Her role is to help the organisation to define the way they deliver projects to their clients in the most efficient and consistent way.
