Update: Review of the Cadastral Rules for Survey 2010

The first stage of the 2-year review on the Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010 began in August 2017 with a 2-month consultation period on an Issues and Opportunities Paper released by the Surveyor-General. This was accompanied by seven workshops around the country and a final online session that was attended by 190 surveyors. The NZIS Cadastral Stream made a submission supporting the review and is working with LINZ on the formation of a working group to assist the review. NZIS’s submission and further information on Stage 1 of the review may be found in the Members Forum (log-in required).

Land Information New Zealand is currently working through surveyors’ feedback (Stage 2) to determine what changes need to be made and other actions to be taken. This is expected to last through to June 2018 and involve stakeholder consultation on these changes. Stage 3 will involve technical drafting of the rules and a final round of consultation. Further information on the process can be found on the LINZ website.
