Our school
We are the University of Otago School of Surveying - recognised nationally and internationally for the quality of our graduates and the impact of our research. The School supports a comprehensive undergraduate programme in Surveying and Spatial Science leading to the BSurv, BSc or BAppSc. We mentor students who conduct excellent Honours, MSc, and PhD research, as well as graduate diplomas and MAppSc projects. We aim to connect teaching and research that make a difference here in Aotearoa New Zealand, with the world.
The role
We seek to appoint a full-time, permanent (confirmation path) Lecturer with expertise in Land Tenure, Land Law and Land Administration. In this role you will contribute to the School’s excellent teaching and learning culture and to our diverse, national and international research profile. You will be responsible for:
• Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the area of Land Tenure and one or more allied subject, for example, land planning and cadastral surveying. Knowledge of Aotearoa New Zealand land tenure and administration systems is essential.
• Growing an active research programme, publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, obtaining external funding and supervising research students.
• Contributing to the effective and efficient running of the School to meet its responsibilities within the University and wider community.
• Contributing to support of the University's Māori, Pacific, Equity and Diversity and Sustainability strategic frameworks.
Your skills and experience
• PhD in an appropriate discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a Surveying programme.
• Active research portfolio, as evidenced by a high quality publication record.
• Enthusiastic teacher of Land Tenure and related topics.
• Collaborative, collegial and inclusive approach to teaching, research and service.
