Supporting Technician surveyors

Technicians

Technician surveyors have been an important part of S+SNZ membership since 1988 when they were first invited to become members at the NZIS Centennial Conference held that year. A law change that came in with the 1986 Survey Bill removed any membership constraints imposed by the earlier Survey Act 1966.

Many survey technicians were already members of the New Zealand Technician Surveyors Association (NZTSA) first founded in 1973 and since 1988 technician surveyors have continued to be active as both members of S+SNZ and in obtaining surveying qualifications through academic institutions such as Toi Ohomai BOP Polytechnic and UNITEC.
