Nick Stillwell, ASaTS Lead Consulting Surveyor

Nick Stillwell is the S+SNZ Lead Consulting Surveyor for the Advanced Survey and Titles System (ASaTS) that is being developed to replace Landonline. He is responsible for communicating and providing feedback from the sector to the ASaTS team to ensure that we take the opportunity to deliver a solution that will be able to respond to the changing demands of the sector in the future.

Nick has a Bachelor of Surveying with First Class Honours from Otago University and is a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor. He has most recently been Work Group Manager at Opus International Consultants. He brings extensive experience and history in the surveying sector to the role and is skilled in land development, cadastral surveying and spatial data management for infrastructure projects.


Jan Lawrence, Communications Manager

Jan is responsible for managing and implementing communication strategies and policies and overseeing the Memberconnex database and website systems. Her professional background includes time as a Product/Service Owner for Landonline e-survey at LINZ and various other roles including marketing, product, website and relationship management with the Ministry of Education, Terralink International, Database Communications Ltd and Environmental Science and Research.  Her early career started at Lands & Survey and DOSLI, during which time she gained the NZ Certificate in Survey Draughting. She later gained qualifications in business studies majoring in marketing at Massey University and in direct and e-marketing with the NZ Marketing Association. 


Karin Knedler, Advocacy & Policy Coordinator

Karin Knedler joined S+SNZ in November 2017 taking up the new position of Advocacy and Policy Coordinator. She comes with many years’ science and policy experience in the public sector, including the External Intelligence Bureau, MAF Fisheries and LINZ. Her original training was in marine geochemistry where she specialised in metalliferous sediments.


Max Will,  Events and Marketing Coordinator

Max Will (BPhEd (Hons) | MSc.Biochem | GradDip.PsySc) is an experienced events manager, marketing consultant and team leader that happens to be a scientist. Max built his experience working in a variety of relevant events in Australia, representing multiple well-established brands and being awarded for outstanding performance in experiential marketing campaigns. Max also has extensive experience in research, accumulating numerous peer-reviewed papers published in the field of Biochemistry and Psychology / Social Science, including his master’s degree, which has been cited worldwide. His interests include science, technology, politics, philosophy, psychology, medicine, leadership, audiobooks, and related; randomly ranked according to day and mood.

Linda Turnbull, Membership Coordinator

Linda joined us in 2017 as our membership coordinator. She is an experienced senior administrator with a range of skills from office management, facilities management, leading teams, personal assistant and team administration.

Linda has a legal executive diploma, diploma in management, and a diploma in coaching.Outside of work, Linda enjoys exercising, learning and spending time with her family and friends.


Carlos Castro, Accounts

Carlos was born in Chile, emigrated to New Zealand in 1988 and has lived in Wellington since his arrival. He loves living here as it is a great city where everything is within reach. 

Carlos is a father of 2 and, a has a keen interest in beekeeping. He has been working in accounting since day one in NZ and, for the last 10 years, for not-for-profit organisations.
